Justice or Revenge
Bahadur Singh Bhalru is on a plane heading back to India. I can't help wondering if what happened to him was more about revenge than justice. If he were a Canadian teenager who was street racing we wouldn't be revoking his right to live in our country. While I sympathize with the family of his victim I think the problem isn't that Bahadur Singh Bhalru is a further risk to our society but that our laws dealing with street racing are inadequate and instead of addressing the real problem - weak laws about street racers we are attacking Bahadur Singh Bhalru because he's a "foreigner". We often take the easy way out in our society. Kicking a young person out of the country who made a mistake and has paid for it under our justice system is wrong.
Let me be clear I don't have any problem with deporting "violent" offenders but an offender a Canadian judge couldn't even be bothered to put in jail? Mr. Bhalru was sentenced to two years less a day house arrest.
My advice to all the landed immigrants out there, get your citizenship and obey the law.

Hi I'm a landed immigrant into canada and actually am charged with a criminal offense right now, deporting someone will not bring any good to Canada, neither will it bring closure to the family of the victim. But to say that this is a way to deal with a criminal act is just disguisting, if someones getting 2 years less a day for this crime he certainly should not be deported. On the other hand I think this man should have atleast tried to explain something to the family of the victim not just gather a few respected members of the sikh society and expect to stay in Canada. This man should have paid his time and have been brought back into the community to realize where he lives and not to do something like this again, not be deported and in a few years mostlikey come to Canada on appeal, the victims family should also be going to the federal government to do something positive with the street racing laws rather than chase this guy to the airport and wave bye.
The world is a crazy and scary place with some of our dum laws. The US will not allow anyone into there country if you are on meds for aids come on get a life. They have a right to live aids is everywhere in the world. They need to put there best forward and stop virses such as the chicken flue that can wipe out millions of people in a heart beat.
This year maybe they will have enough vacations for the flue in there own country.Wonder how many came to Canada for the shot?
